Europe`s most famous wooden church opened in Våler in 2015, six years after its predecessor had fallen victim to arson. Its unique architecture and innovative construction has been awarded several prestigious domestic and international prizes, making it Norway`s most prize-winning church.

The nature is a true highlight!

All the rivers in our area offer plenty of opportunities for water activities such as fishing, swimming and canoeing.

The nature in the region is a true highlight. The forests offer an abundance of wildlife and possibilities for activities, and the silence and the fresh air in the woods are endless…

A flourishing cultural life and major events are also some of the things which characterise our region. Large annual events, such as The Nordic Hunting and Fishing Festival at the Forest Museum and The Elverum Music Festival take place in August.
